I give Dolly some difficult challenges, and reward her in a couple ways that are meaningful to her; face punches and star stickers. First she earns hard face punches by pushing her throat down over my fingers far enough to gag. I try out a clamp in her nose to hold her in place for paddling, but she looks anguished enough about how that feels that I end up using just the threat of bringing it back to get her to hold position. She holds still for three (well, four after being excessively clever) good hard paddle strokes, and earns the first of several star stickers on her forehead.
